How to get from:
Bremen airport to Bremen main station:
If you are arriving by air, exit the airport at arrivals, take tram no. 6 (direction: Universitaet)from the direct opposite side of the street and exit at Bremen main station (“Hauptbahnhof”). Trams leave from the airport every 10 minutes between 6 am and 8 pm on weekdays, else every 20 minutes and take approx 15 minutes. In the nights there are special times (www.bsag.de).
Bremen main station to Bremen airport:
If you are leaving from the airport again, exit Bremen main station towards the city centre, take tram no. 6 from tram platform F (direction Flughafen). Trams leave from the main station every 10 minutes between 6 am and 8 pm on weekdays, else every 20 minutes. In the nights there are special times (www.bsag.de).
Bremen main station to Jacobs University Campus:
Trains from Bremen’s main station to North Bremen leave every 30 minutes (XX:11 and XX:41 between 4 am and 12 pm). Take the train heading towards Bremen-Vegesack from platform 5 and get off at Schönebeck station (sixth stop). From Schönebeck station, walk up the stairs, turn right; it is about a five-minute walk down Schönebecker Straße and Bruno-Bürgel-Straße until you see the campus on the left side.
Jacobs University Campus to Bremen main station:
Trains from Bremen-Schönebeck to Bremen main station leave every 30 minutes (XX:27 and XX:57). Walk out the main gate and turn right, walk down Bruno-Bürgel-Straße and turn right at the end into Schönebecker Straße (approx. 5 minutes). Take the train heading either towards Bremen-Hauptbahnhof or Verden/Aller and get off at main station (sixth stop, “Bremen Hauptbahnhof”).
Bremen main station to Townside Hostel and back:
Go to the main train station (Hauptbahnof). Take tram no. 10 from platform C (direction: Sebaldsbrück) and get off at “Humboldtstraße” (3rd stop). From there you walk for about 200 metres along the tram lines and see the hostel on the right hand. For getting back take tram no. 10 from the other side of the street (direction: Gröpelingen). Trams leave every 10 minutes between 6 am and 8 pm on weekdays, else every 20 minutes. In the nights there are special times (www.bsag.de).
Bremen main station to Backpacker Hostel and back:
Go to the Bremen main station. From there, it is a five-minute walk to the hostel, as can be seen in the link http://www.bremer-backpacker-hostel.de/index_en.html.

[08-06-01] Jacobs Open 2009 Convenor Elected
The Jacobs University Bremen Debating Society elected a new Convenor to lead the organizational efforts toward the Jacobs Open 2009. In a non-competitive election, candidate and Society President Oliver Haardt was reassured the trust of the Society to make Jacobs Open 2009 a success.
Faces of IUB Open
Derek Lande
Derek was one of our three Chief Adjudicators of Jacobs Open 2008. As third best speaker of Dublin Worlds 2006, winner of 11 IVs, top speaker & finalist of Euros 2004, Convenor of Euros 2005, DCA of Euros 2006, and DCA of UBC Worlds 2007, he brings an enormous amount of expertise to Bremen. Derek was also already Deputy Chief Adjudicator of the IUB Open 2006 and IUB Open 2007 and most famously won the 2006 Last Man at the Bar Award.
