Jacobs University Campus
The preliminary rounds of Jacobs Open 2009 will as always be held on the beautiful park-like Jacobs University campus. On 30 hectares (80 acres), it provides space for university buildings, labs, sports fields, gymnasiums and students' residential colleges. The participants of Jacobs Open 2009 will find it ideally suitable for debates as it offers small classrooms for the prelims in West Hall as well as a large conference hall and Jacobs University's Interfaith House for the semi-finals.
Grand Final
As last year's venue (Obere Rathaushalle) is unfortunately not available this year due to construction work, we are currently weighing different alternative locations, but we can promise you that the venue will be no less exciting than last year's!

[08-06-01] Jacobs Open 2009 Convenor Elected
The Jacobs University Bremen Debating Society elected a new Convenor to lead the organizational efforts toward the Jacobs Open 2009. In a non-competitive election, candidate and Society President Oliver Haardt was reassured the trust of the Society to make Jacobs Open 2009 a success.
Faces of IUB Open
Jens Fischer
Jens Fischer is one of the most well reputed debaters and adjudicators on the German and European circuits. A Chief Adjudicator of the IUB Open 2006 and Deputy Chief Adjudicator of the IUB Open 2005, he is a founding member of the Berlin Debating Union, and was their CA from 2002 to 2005. Most famously, Jens also was the CA of Euros 2006 in the German capital.
